The Japanese government on Monday, in Manila, Philippines, assured President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that it will fully support his administration’s efforts to accelerate infrastructure projects to create more jobs and boost the country’s economy.

Officials from Japan and the Philippines reaffirmed this commitment following the 4th Technical and Business Cooperation on Road Tunnel Construction workshop, which both countries organized to enhance collaboration on transport infrastructure.

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said Japanese assistance to the Philippines will speed up the completion of ongoing and future infrastructure projects that aim to deliver immediate benefits to Filipino citizens.

Dizon thanked the government of Japan, through its Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, for providing technical and business cooperation that helps the Philippines modernize its infrastructure network.

He said President Marcos Jr. expresses confidence that the partnership between the Philippines and Japan will contribute to sustained economic growth, stronger trade relations and increased investments.

Dizon said the workshop on road tunnel construction forms part of continuing technical cooperation efforts that aim to introduce advanced engineering practices and technologies to Philippine projects.

He said the DPWH and Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism plan to hold further technical exchanges and consultations to identify additional areas of collaboration in transport infrastructure.
