MANILA, Philippines– Barangay Ginebra forward Jamie Malonzo has signed with Japan B.League team Kyoto Hannaryz for the 2025–26 season. The announcement was made Thursday.

Ginebra coach Tim Cone said the team was aware of Malonzo’s interest in pursuing an overseas opportunity and was not surprised by the move.

Malonzo, previously a key player for Ginebra in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), will join a growing number of Filipino players competing in the Japan B.League.

Cone stated that while the team is disappointed to lose Malonzo, Ginebra supports his decision and will now focus on giving more opportunities to players such as Jeremiah Gray and Jason David.

Malonzo and Cone are currently working together with the national team.

Kyoto Hannaryz has expressed confidence in Malonzo’s addition to their roster. Ginebra has acknowledged the transition and looks ahead to adjustments within the team lineup.

Malonzo’s transfer adds to the trend of Filipino athletes seeking international playing opportunities in professional basketball leagues abroad.
