MANILA, Philippines — Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus announced on Friday in Manila that the Korean Basketball League team signed Filipino forward Jake Figueroa to serve as an Asian import for the upcoming KBL season.

The team confirmed that Figueroa, who played for the National University Bulldogs in the UAAP, agreed to join Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus after he completed his college eligibility.

Figueroa finished his final season with National University before he accepted the offer from the KBL club. Team officials coordinated with Figueroa and his representatives to finalize the contract after the conclusion of his collegiate career.

The Korean Basketball League listed Figueroa as one of its newest Asian quota signings for the next season. National University coaches and officials acknowledged his move to the professional ranks following his stint with the Bulldogs.

Figueroa fulfilled his remaining team obligations with National University before he confirmed his transfer to Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus. The signing added another Filipino athlete to the group of Philippine players competing in the KBL.

Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus scheduled Figueroa’s arrival in South Korea ahead of the team’s training and preseason activities. Team management stated that they plan to integrate him into the system during practices before the regular season opens.

Figueroa will occupy an Asian player slot on the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus roster. Officials from the team and National University completed the required clearances to allow him to join the KBL franchise.
