Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s return to boxing has Manny Pacquiao hinting at a potential rematch between the two rivals.
Speaking during the official partnership signing of his Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) and SportsPlus in Mandaluyong, Pacquiao told reporters, “Abangan niyo na lang ang announcement” (Just wait for the announcement), when asked about a possible second fight with Mayweather.
Mayweather, 48, announced his return to professional boxing nine years after defeating Conor McGregor in 2017. He said he still has what it takes to set new records and claimed that his upcoming events, including a match with former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson, will draw massive global attention and revenue. The Tyson exhibition is reportedly scheduled for April.
Mayweather holds an undefeated 50-0 record, including a unanimous decision over Pacquiao in their 2015 megafight. Pacquiao, 44, also came out of retirement last July to challenge Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title, falling short in a majority draw and missing the chance to become the second-oldest boxer to claim a world championship.
