Italian readers get Rizal’s Noli, Nick Joaquin’s Tropical Gothic

The Philippine Embassy in Rome launched the Italian-language editions of José Rizal’s novel “Noli Me Tangere” and Nick Joaquin’s collection “Tropical Gothic” at a cultural event that gathered diplomats, members of the Filipino community in Italy, Italian guests, and literary stakeholders in Rome.

Officials of the Philippine Embassy in Rome organized the launch as part of its cultural diplomacy initiatives to promote Philippine literature and heritage to Italian readers.

Event organizers presented the Italian editions of “Noli Me Tangere” and “Tropical Gothic” as new additions to the growing body of Philippine works translated into European languages.

Representatives of the Filipino community in Italy attended the launch and participated in activities that highlighted the works of national hero José Rizal and National Artist for Literature Nick Joaquin.

Italian guests joined discussions and presentations that explained the historical and cultural context of “Noli Me Tangere” and the themes of “Tropical Gothic.”
