MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced that three former engineers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and a couple named Pacifico and Sarah Discaya are now registered as protected witnesses in an investigation into fraudulent government infrastructure projects.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla disclosed this information on Wednesday. The DPWH engineers, who were previously dismissed, have been secured by authorities to contribute to the probe.

The investigation seeks to uncover irregularities in the execution and management of government infrastructure initiatives.

The DOJ’s decision to safeguard these individuals highlights their potential role in providing key evidence. The Justice Department is working to ensure their safety as they assist in the investigation.

The protected status ensures that these witnesses can testify without fear of reprisal, aiming to aid in revealing corruption within the government projects sector.
