MANILA, Philippines — Former Filipinas goalkeeper Inna Palacios said she is focusing on life after the national team as she attended the 2026 Philippine Sportswriters Association Awards Night on Monday at Manila Diamond Hotel.

Palacios received a special award recognizing the Filipinas’ gold medal victory at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games.

“I’m enjoying my time away from the team now,” she said. “I’m just trying to find other ways to grow in sports aside from playing. I’m still playing in the local league, I still love it but right now, I think I’ve given enough for the national team.”

Palacios retired from the national squad shortly after helping the team win gold in Thailand.

She continues to play in the local league and remains involved with Kaya FC. “I think 18 years was enough. I’ve seen the national team grow from nothing into something bigger. Right now, it’s all about the future,” she said.
