The inaugural Texas Capital Air Show scheduled at San Marcos Regional Airport in Austin has been canceled due to the ongoing federal government shutdown.

Organizers stated that the shutdown prevented access to required funding and federal resources needed to stage the event.

The air show was planned to feature military and civilian aircraft and was expected to draw a large public crowd and provide an economic boost to the area.

Organizers confirmed that the event will be rescheduled for next year and said participants and ticket holders are being contacted regarding refunds or transfers.

The shutdown has affected federal support for public events across the country. Air show organizers expressed optimism about hosting the event once federal operations resume at normal levels and pledged to continue preparations for the rescheduled date.
