MANILA, Philippines–The Albuera municipal police in the Philippines is conducting a manhunt for the gunman responsible for the shooting of Kerwin Espinosa, a self-confessed drug lord and mayoralty candidate for Albuera, Leyte.
The operation is being carried out in coordination with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team.
The Police Regional Office (PRO) 8, covering Eastern Visayas, released a statement on Friday confirming their efforts to determine the motive behind the attack and to ensure justice is served.
PRO-8 has assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to uphold peace and security, especially during the election period.
The authorities urge anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward and cooperate with the investigation.
