HOUSTON, Texas — Suzy Seeley, 66, will run her 350th marathon Sunday at the 2026 Chevron Houston Marathon, continuing a running career that began more than 30 years ago.

Seeley, a Houston mother of two, said she started running at age 35, completing her first race at the 1995 Houston Marathon. “When I finished, I couldn’t walk for a week afterwards,” she said. “I picked it back up, and I thought… Well, I can do that again next year.”

She has run every Houston Marathon since, except in 2021 when the event was canceled due to the pandemic. Seeley has also completed a marathon in all 50 U.S. states and on all continents, including Antarctica. She documents her experiences in her book, This Is The Race.

Seeley said she averages 12 to 14 marathons per year and focuses on one race at a time. Her running has become a family affair: her husband now runs alongside her, her daughter has completed 12 marathons, and Sunday will mark her son Ryan’s first marathon.

The runner holds two world records: a Guinness World Record for the fastest aggregate time completing a marathon in all 50 U.S. states for a female and the World Record Academy record for the most marathons run under four hours by a female.

“Running kicks in my endorphins, and it makes me feel happy. I know that’s cliché. It clears my mind,” Seeley said.

The 2026 Chevron Houston Marathon has sold out all race entries, including charity spots, and is expected to draw thousands of participants.
