HOUSTON, Texas– Two Houston residents, Terry Ardoin, 24, and Travonte Ardoin, 27, have been indicted for their alleged involvement in a 2022 fatal shooting at a shopping center parking lot, authorities announced Wednesday.
The indictment charges the Ardoins with murder and attempted murder in connection with racketeering activities. Federal prosecutors identified both men as members of the “Free Money” gang, a street gang associated with violent crimes.
According to court documents, the shooting occurred during the day when the Ardoins allegedly followed a Chevrolet Equinox into the shopping center lot. They reportedly waited for one victim to exit a store and fired at him as he returned to his vehicle, resulting in one death and one injury. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and described the weapon as fully automatic.
Authorities said the shooting is part of an ongoing gang conflict involving the “Free Money” gang. If convicted, the Ardoins could face life imprisonment or the death penalty.
Local and federal law enforcement agencies have collaborated on the investigation, which targets the gang’s broader network and aims to reduce violent crime in Houston. Officials urged the public to provide information to assist ongoing investigations.
