HOUSTON — Andres Hernandez Torres, 29, is in custody facing charges of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping for allegedly serving as the getaway driver in two violent home invasions on July 30.
Court documents state that Torres transported armed suspects to the crime scenes, where the perpetrators wore bulletproof-style vests marked “officer” and presented themselves as police officers. During the invasions, victims were reportedly restrained with zip ties, threatened at gunpoint, and robbed of their possessions.
Prosecutors noted that Torres does not have a valid driver’s license, which adds complexity to the case. Records also show Torres has prior convictions for assault, drug possession, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.
Torres remains in Harris County Jail with bail set at $450,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, September 15.
Authorities have urged residents to verify the identity of individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers and to report any suspicious activity. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the incidents and seek to identify all involved parties.
