HOUSTON, Texas– The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) council in Houston has expressed strong criticism over recent immigration policy changes enacted by the Trump administration.

During a press event held on Friday, LULAC representatives voiced concerns about the potential impact of these policies on the local immigrant community.

The council emphasized that the changes could increase anxiety and instability among families in Houston.

The press event also featured representatives from Houston Millennials and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, both of which supported LULAC’s position.

These groups are urging policymakers to reconsider the immigration policies, arguing that they fail to recognize the positive contributions of immigrants to the city’s economy and culture.

Houston Millennials, a group representing young professionals, highlighted the role of young immigrants in the city’s workforce and innovation sectors.

The group emphasized the importance of supporting immigrant workers, rather than marginalizing them through restrictive policies.

Similarly, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement expressed concern that the new immigration policies could lead to exploitation of immigrant workers.

The council called for stronger protections for workers’ rights, regardless of immigration status.

While opposing the Trump administration’s policies, the organizations also called for a constructive dialogue with lawmakers.

They urged local and national leaders to prioritize solutions that address the well-being of immigrant families and the broader community.

The press event underscored the ongoing concerns over immigration policy and the potential effects on the city’s diverse population.
