HOUSTON — Houston Methodist Hospital ranked as the top hospital in Texas in the 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings released Tuesday, with Houston hospitals taking seven of the state’s top 10 spots.
Houston Methodist Hospital also ranked as the No. 1 Best Regional Hospital in the Houston metropolitan area, according to the annual rankings.
UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas ranked second statewide, while Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital tied for third.
The statewide top 10 included:
- Houston Methodist Hospital — Houston
- UT Southwestern Medical Center — Dallas
- Baylor University Medical Center — Dallas (tie)
- Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital — Sugar Land (tie)
- Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center — Houston
- Memorial Hermann Hospital — Houston
- Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital — The Woodlands
- Baylor Scott & White Medical Center–Temple — Temple
- Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital — Houston
- Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital — Houston (tie)
- St. David’s Medical Center — Austin (tie)
The rankings include 11 hospitals in the top 10 because of ties.
U.S. News & World Report said its 2026-2027 rankings also introduce new regional specialty rankings to help patients compare hospitals that provide complex care closer to where they live.
The publication recognized 505 Best Regional Hospitals across 49 states and Washington, D.C.
Hospitals from Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth, Austin and San Antonio appeared among the institutions recognized in the statewide rankings.
