Abbie Kamin announces run for Harris County Attorney

HOUSTON, Texas — Houston City Councilwoman Abbie Kamin announced she will run for Harris County Attorney in the upcoming election, which under Texas’ resign-to-run law requires her to vacate her council seat.

Kamin represents  on City Council. The Harris County Attorney’s Office handles civil legal matters, represents the county in lawsuits, and provides legal guidance to county departments and officials.

Her resignation will create an open City Council seat, which will be filled according to the city charter and election schedule. Campaign filings, ballot preparation, and election procedures for the county attorney race will follow state and local election laws.
