HOUSTON, Texas–Residents in the Houston area are urging Republican members of Congress to host town hall meetings.

Democratic organizers have initiated rallies in Republican-represented areas across Houston.

In Fort Bend County, more than 300 residents have signed a petition asking Republican Congressman Troy Nehls to host a public meeting.

Congressman Nehls has declined to hold a town hall, citing concerns about potential disruptions from activists.

County Commissioner Dexter McCoy has voiced the importance of direct communication from elected representatives. Despite the pressure, Congressman Nehls stands firm on his decision not to engage in a town hall meeting format.
