HOUSTON — A man aboard a Delta Air Lines flight was detained early Wednesday at William P. Hobby Airport after reportedly displaying unruly and unlawful behavior toward passengers and crew, authorities said.

Houston Police Department spokesperson Shay Awosiyan said officers were called at around 5:35 a.m. following a report that “someone tried to breach a cockpit.” A man was later taken into custody at the airport.

Delta, however, said the passenger did not attempt to enter the flight deck.

“We can confirm that the customer approached crew and customers but did not make contact with or attempt to access the flight deck,” an airline spokesperson said.

There were 85 passengers and three crew members on Delta Flight 2557. The aircraft later departed for Atlanta and arrived about 90 minutes behind schedule, landing at approximately 8:45 a.m. Central time, according to online flight data.

“The safety of our customers and crew is paramount, and Delta has zero tolerance for unruly behavior,” the airline said in a statement. “We apologize to our customers for this experience and delay in their travels.”

Awosiyan said responding officers reported no immediate injuries. Additional details about the detained man were not immediately available.

The Houston Airport System confirmed that a Delta flight was involved but referred further questions to the airline and police.
