Vice President Kamala Harris is scheduled to visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday for her first rally since launching her presidential campaign. This marks Harris’ initial stop in a battleground state under her campaign. It will be her ninth visit to Wisconsin during her vice presidential term and her fifth visit to the state this year, according to her campaign.
During the rally, Harris is expected to highlight the stark choice facing Wisconsin voters between former President Donald Trump, described by her campaign as “a convicted felon who would drag this country backwards,” and her “brighter vision for the future, where our freedoms are protected and every American has a fair shot.”
Following President Joe Biden’s announcement on Sunday of his withdrawal from the race and endorsement of Harris, Democratic lawmakers and political figures across the nation have swiftly rallied around her. By Monday, a majority of pledged Democratic convention delegates had endorsed Harris, solidifying her status as a leading candidate.
At a White House event on Monday, Harris focused on Biden’s leadership without discussing her campaign. Since Biden’s exit from the race, Harris’ campaign reported raising $100 million on Sunday and Monday, with 62% of contributions coming from first-time donors.
Prominent Wisconsin Democratic officials, including Governor Tony Evers, Senator Tammy Baldwin, and Attorney General Josh Kaul, are expected to attend Harris’ rally in Milwaukee.
Harris’ campaign has established 48 coordinated offices across 43 counties in Wisconsin, staffed by approximately 160 full-time organizers working to build support for Harris and state Democrats ahead of the November election.
