The Harlingen Consolidated Independent School District (HCISD) has opened a Dyslexia Therapy Training Center in Harlingen, Texas, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held Friday.
The new facility is the first of its kind within a public school district south of the Dallas–Fort Worth area and is designed to strengthen educators’ ability to support students with dyslexia and other reading challenges.
Open to all educators, the center will provide training for those seeking credentials as dyslexia practitioners or therapists.
Shannon Reyna, HCISD’s Dyslexia 504 MTSS Coordinator, said the program will focus on hands-on, multisensory language instruction to help teachers better assist students struggling with reading.
Once accredited, HCISD will become one of only five school districts in Texas to operate an accredited Dyslexia Training Center.
The new facility reflects HCISD’s broader goal of providing inclusive and individualized learning opportunities.
