California Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law banning the sale of new Glock firearms in the state. The law applies to Glock models not listed on California’s approved handgun roster.

Supporters of the legislation state that the measure aims to reduce gun violence and enhance public safety.

Opponents argue that the restriction limits the rights of legal gun owners and may affect firearm availability in the state.

Existing Glock owners are not affected, as the ban only covers the sale of new models. Retailers must remove all new Glock inventory intended for civilian sale. Private party transfers remain permitted under the law.
