MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas Women announced Thursday that Sophia Dignadice, daughter of Philippine Basketball Association legend Yves Dignadice, has been selected for the national team competing in the women’s 5-on-5 basketball tournament at the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Thailand in 2025.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) confirmed that Dignadice earned a spot in the national pool after participating in a series of evaluations and training sessions. She will join a core group of returning veterans as the squad aims to reclaim the gold medal it lost in the previous SEA Games edition.

Preparations for the SEA Games will include continued practices in Metro Manila, tune-up games, and potentially additional training camps abroad. The SBP will release the final official roster after a planned training camp and evaluation period, ahead of the submission deadline set by the SEA Games Federation and the local organizing committee in Thailand.

The women’s 5-on-5 basketball tournament in the 33rd SEA Games will feature teams from across Southeast Asia, competing in preliminary rounds and medal matches under international basketball regulations.

Dignadice’s selection signals the national team’s commitment to blending youth and experience as it pursues a return to the top podium spot in regional women’s basketball.
