DALLAS, Texas– The Fort Worth Independent School District (ISD) has announced a five-year plan to close or consolidate 18 schools due to declining enrollment, demographic shifts, and financial concerns.

District officials stated that these changes are necessary to address underutilized facilities and ensure efficient use of taxpayer funds.

The plan includes identifying specific schools for closure or consolidation, with the goal of reallocating resources to schools with more stable or increasing enrollments.

The district cited factors such as local demographic changes and the need for more efficient allocation of resources as reasons for the closures.

Fort Worth ISD emphasized that the plan is designed to minimize disruption to students and staff. Support will be provided for students transferring to other schools.

Fort Worth ISD will hold informational meetings for parents, faculty, and community members to discuss the details of the plan and address concerns.

The closure and consolidation process will be implemented in phases over the next five years, with the initial phase focusing on the most immediate needs.

The district is also working with local government agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to the changes. Fort Worth ISD officials have assured the public that the plan aims to create a sustainable educational environment.
