A new Veterans Affairs outpatient health clinic is set to be built in Fort Bend County, following a groundbreaking ceremony held May 28 in Rosenberg, southwest of Houston.

The planned 38,000-square-foot facility will be located off U.S. Highway 59 and is intended to serve the region’s growing veteran population. Officials from the Houston VA system, local veterans, and representatives from congressional offices attended the event.

Houston VA leaders said the new clinic is designed to serve up to 20,000 veterans and will help reduce travel times and appointment delays for patients in the area. The facility will also include expanded staffing as part of the broader growth of the Houston VA system.

Services planned for the clinic include primary care, mental health care, radiology, optometry, prosthetics, and physical therapy. It is expected to replace an existing clinic in nearby Richmond that is already operating at full capacity.

Officials also noted that the Houston VA system is rapidly expanding, enrolling about 1,000 new veterans in healthcare services each month. The new clinic is one of several planned expansions to meet increasing demand.

Construction is expected to cost about $30 million and continue through the end of 2027.
