MANILA, Philippines — A former member of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy’s alleged private army known as the ”angels of death” has been taken into custody by the Philippine National Police (PNP).

On Friday, PNP spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo informed the media that one individual linked to the self-styled ”appointed Son of God” is now under their supervision. Details about the individual’s identity have yet to be disclosed publicly.

The PNP has been conducting investigations into various allegations surrounding Pastor Quiboloy and his organization. Pastor Quiboloy is known for his controversial teachings and has faced multiple accusations over the years, ranging from abuse to illegal activities.

The ”angels of death” group, which Quiboloy allegedly leads, is said to be comprised of armed followers who protect him and his interests. Allegations against this group include intimidation and violence against dissenters and other individuals who oppose Quiboloy’s ministry.

The circumstances that led to this individual’s confession and subsequent detention remain unclear. Colonel Fajardo did not provide details regarding the former member’s statements or the nature of the evidence that might have led to the arrest.

Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations regarding the activities of the group. Quiboloy has previously dismissed allegations against him and his group, claiming they are unfounded and motivated by malice.

The PNP continues to monitor similar cases related to religious organizations and their activities. They emphasize the importance of ensuring public safety while also respecting religious freedoms.

The situation continues to develop, and more information may be released as the investigation progresses. Various sectors of society are watching closely, given the implications these situations can have on communities and religious practices.

The PNP has encouraged anyone with information about the “angels of death” or other related allegations to come forward. They assure confidentiality and protection for those willing to share insights regarding any unlawful actions associated with Quiboloy and his group.
