MISSOURI CITY, Texas — Patrick Beverley, a former Houston Rockets player, was arrested Friday in Fort Bend County on charges of assaulting a family member, authorities said.

Court records show the incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. at a residence in the 5500 block of Lady Lyle Way. Beverley was released later the same day on a $40,000 bond, according to the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office.

Beverley’s attorney, Letitia Quinones-Hollins, said her client has no criminal record and intends to contest the charges in court. She stated that Beverley became upset after finding his minor sister alone with an 18-year-old man at the family home.

The former NBA player played for multiple teams, including the Houston Rockets from 2013 to 2017. Court records do not provide additional details about the incident or the individuals involved.

Authorities have not released further statements, and Beverley’s next court appearance has not been scheduled. His legal team will represent him in upcoming proceedings.
