Ex–executive secretary Eduardo Ermita dies at 90

Former Executive Secretary and Defense Chief Eduardo Ermita died at his home in Batangas on October 18, 2025. He was 90.

His daughter, Balayan Mayor Lisa Ermita, announced his death on social media and said he died peacefully at 8:00 a.m. with family present.

Ermita served as executive secretary under President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from 2004 to 2010 and as acting defense secretary in 2003.

Before entering government service, he was a general in the Armed Forces of the Philippines and a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy.

The family has not yet released details on funeral arrangements.
