Poland opened its campaign at the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship with a straight-sets victory over Romania in the Group B opener on Sunday in Manila.

The world No. 1 team overcame early resistance from Romania in the first set before settling into rhythm and completing the sweep. The win underscored Poland’s status as the tournament favorite as they relied on their deep international experience to control the match.

Romania challenged Poland in stretches but could not maintain momentum against the defending champions’ offensive and defensive execution.

The match marked the first appearance for both squads in the tournament and set the tone for Group B competition. Poland will continue its group stage schedule later this week, while Romania will aim to rebound in its next outing.
