HOUSTON, Texas — Houston firefighters and emergency personnel are joining the effort to battle severe wildfires in California.

More than 135 personnel, including firefighters, emergency management, and medical staff, have been dispatched to support containment efforts.

The deployment includes over 45 pieces of equipment such as fire engines, ambulances, command vehicles, and other necessary tools.

The decision to send reinforcements from Texas came after California’s request for assistance due to the intensity and spread of the wildfires.

Governor Greg Abbott of Texas responded by mobilizing resources and personnel to aid the situation in Los Angeles County.

Abbott has acknowledged the urgent need for aid, stating that Texas is committed to supporting its fellow states in such emergencies.

California has been facing unprecedented wildfires, fueled by strong winds and dry conditions.

The fires have led to evacuations, property damage, and loss of life. With the ongoing threat, collaboration with other states has become vital.

In addition to Texas, resources and personnel have arrived from other neighboring states such as Oregon, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, and Idaho.

This united front aims to provide California with the support needed to control the wildfires and mitigate further damage.

The Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) facilitates this interstate cooperation, allowing states to share resources during emergencies.
