Houston, TX – March 26, 2026 — The vibrant creativity of Asian-American and specifically Filipino-American students took center stage at Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (Kinder HSPVA) during the closing event of the school’s annual Diversity Series.

Founded in 1971, Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is a nationally recognized public magnet school in Houston, Texas, known for its rigorous pre-professional training in creative writing, dance, music, theatre, and visual arts. As part of the Houston Independent School District, Kinder HSPVA has produced award-winning artists and performers and is widely regarded as one of the top arts high schools in the United States.

Following the performances, attendees gathered for the Kinder HSPVA Night Market, held on April 2, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the school’s campus at 790 Austin Street in downtown Houston. Organized by the school community, the annual spring event featured student-created art, food, and interactive experiences, offering a vibrant setting for students to share their talents. Filipino-American specialties were among the highlights, giving attendees a unique taste of the Philippines alongside other Asian-American cultural offerings, with additional event information shared through HSPVA Friends.

“Tonight’s event is a celebration of our students’ talents, culture, and the diversity that strengthens our community,” said school organizers. “We’re proud to see Filipino-American students share their heritage and creativity with the broader Houston community.”

The event was part of Kinder HSPVA’s annual Encore Celebration, which raised a record $386,000. These funds support the school’s nationally recognized curriculum, ensuring students continue to receive top-tier instruction in all artistic disciplines.
