KERRVILLE, Texas — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has opened a Disaster Recovery Center at the Hill Country Youth Event Center to assist residents affected by the July Fourth floods.
The center began operations on August 23 and offers in-person support for individuals filing disaster-related claims and seeking information on recovery assistance.
The facility operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will be closed on Labor Day, September 1.
The center enables flood survivors to submit documents, check the status of applications, and receive case-specific guidance. FEMA officials are coordinating with state and local partners to ensure continued support for residents in Kerr County and surrounding areas.
In nearby Ingram, local authorities are pursuing funding for a flood warning siren system. Officials cite repeated flood incidents as a driving factor behind efforts to improve emergency preparedness infrastructure.
FEMA’s response follows calls to strengthen community readiness in flood-prone areas. The July floods have renewed focus on early-warning systems and long-term recovery planning.
The Kerrville Disaster Recovery Center is part of FEMA’s broader strategy to support communities affected by natural disasters and promote future resilience. The agency is working with local leaders to streamline assistance and improve disaster response frameworks.
Residents seeking recovery aid may visit the center during its hours of operation or contact FEMA for further information.
