The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is giving $625 million to 11 U.S. cities that will host matches for the FIFA World Cup 2026 to help boost security and safety preparations.
The city of Dallas will receive about $51.6 million from the grant program. Among all host cities, Miami got the largest share at around $73.7 million. Other cities receiving funding include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Atlanta, Boston, Kansas City, New York / Newark, Philadelphia, Houston, and Seattle.
Officials said the funding will help cities prepare for large crowds and international visitors by improving security, coordination, and emergency response. Dallas police said the money will strengthen their ability to protect both residents and tourists during the global event.
