Head coach Steve Kerr said he will discuss his future with the Golden State Warriors after the team was eliminated from the NBA play-in tournament on Friday night following a loss to the Phoenix Suns.

PHOENIX—Head coach Steve Kerr said he will discuss his future with the Golden State Warriors after the team was eliminated from the NBA play-in tournament on Friday night following a loss to the Phoenix Suns.

Kerr said he planned to take time to reflect before meeting with Warriors management to determine next steps. He said he did not know whether he would continue in his role.

Kerr said the decision would involve discussions with team owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. He said those talks could take place within one to two weeks.

The Warriors finished the 2025–2026 season with a 37–45 record. The team qualified for the play-in tournament but failed to advance to the playoffs after losing to Phoenix. The result marked the fourth time in seven seasons that Golden State missed the postseason.

Kerr said the team dealt with injuries throughout the season. He said players continued to compete despite adversity and effort remained consistent through the final games.

Kerr has coached the Warriors for 12 seasons and has a record of 604–353. He led the team to four NBA championships and five consecutive NBA Finals appearances during his tenure.

He also coached the United States men’s basketball team to a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Kerr shared an on-court embrace with players Stephen Curry and Draymond Green following the game. He did not disclose details of what was said during the exchange.

The House of Representatives committee on justice plans to conclude its impeachment hearings against Vice President Sara Duterte on April 29, according to a committee member.

The House of Representatives committee on justice plans to conclude its impeachment hearings against Vice President Sara Duterte on April 29, according to a committee member.

Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong said in a radio interview that the committee expects to finish its evidence-gathering phase during hearings scheduled on April 22 and April 29. He said the panel aims to wrap up proceedings on April 29.

Adiong said the committee will then prepare a report for transmission to the plenary when Congress resumes session on May 4. He said lawmakers will review the findings before any plenary vote takes place.

He said the committee report, along with the third and fourth impeachment complaints, will be submitted to the full House of Representatives for deliberation. He added that members will have the opportunity to debate the report and question the committee sponsor during plenary discussions.

Batangas Rep. Gerville Luistro, who chairs the House justice committee, serves as sponsor of the committee report in plenary deliberations.

Adiong said the process will not result in immediate approval, citing the need for further debate and questioning by House members.

He said the House determines only probable cause during impeachment proceedings, not guilt.

The impeachment complaints against Duterte include allegations of betrayal of public trust and possible constitutional violations. The complaints cite alleged irregularities in the use of confidential and intelligence funds in the Office of the Vice President and the Department of Education when she served as education secretary.

The complaints also cite alleged inconsistencies in her statements of assets, liabilities, and net worth, and accusations that she made threats against President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and then-House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez.

Television host and actress Kris Aquino said she expressed gratitude to actor Dingdong Dantes and indicated that they are preparing to work together on a project, according to an Instagram post she published on Saturday, April 18.

Aquino tagged Dantes in the post and referred to him as her “godson,” while she discussed a planned project with Dantes and an undisclosed production team. She also stated that she rescheduled a “final presentation” for the project.

Aquino said she postponed the meeting to attend an infusion session of Rituxan, which she described as a strong immunosuppressant used in her treatment for autoimmune diseases, and to spend time with her son, James Carlos “Bimby” Aquino Yap Jr., who turned 19 on April 19.

Aquino said she had already undergone a second cycle of treatment and reported “encouraging results.” She added that medical precautions were necessary for those she will work with on the project due to her condition.

Aquino and Dantes previously worked together in the 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Segunda Mano.” Aquino also served as a principal sponsor at Dantes’ wedding to actress Marian Rivera in 2014.

In the same post, Aquino also discussed her son’s birthday and described her approach to his personal life, including his relationships and career decisions. She said she encouraged him to make independent choices while continuing to support her.

Aquino has previously spoken publicly about her ongoing treatment for multiple autoimmune conditions and her relationship with her son, who has assisted her during periods of illness.

Former members of the musical group One Direction, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, became the subject of renewed public attention on Sunday, April 19, after Tomlinson unfollowed Malik on Instagram following reports of an altercation during the filming of a documentary series.

Former members of the musical group One Direction, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik, became the subject of renewed public attention on Sunday, April 19, after Tomlinson unfollowed Malik on Instagram following reports of an altercation during the filming of a documentary series.

Tomlinson stopped following Malik on the social media platform, while Malik continued to follow Tomlinson. Tomlinson still follows former bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne.

The Sun reported that the two singers were involved in a physical altercation while filming a Netflix documentary series in the United States. The report stated that Malik made a remark about Tomlinson’s late mother, Johannah Deakin, and that the exchange escalated into a fight in which Malik struck Tomlinson, resulting in an injury.

Neither Tomlinson nor Malik, nor their representatives, issued public statements addressing the reported incident as of Sunday.

Tomlinson and Malik first met during auditions for The X Factor UK series 7 and later joined Styles, Horan, and Payne in One Direction, which formed during the competition. Malik left the group in 2015.

The group previously reunited publicly in 2017 in connection with Liam Payne, and they were seen together again at his wake in 2024.

The reported altercation follows earlier public exchanges between Tomlinson and Malik after Malik left One Direction.

Dr. Jennifer Shuford, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, has been named chief medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to President Donald Trump.

Dr. Jennifer Shuford, commissioner of the Texas Department of State Health Services, has been named chief medical officer at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), according to President Donald Trump.

Trump announced the appointment in a post on Truth Social on Thursday, along with other proposed leadership changes at the federal public health agency.

The other announced nominees include Dr. Erica Schwartz for CDC director, Sean Slovenski for CDC deputy director and chief operating officer, and Dr. Sara Brenner as senior counselor for public health to U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The U.S. Senate must confirm Schwartz before she assumes her role, while Shuford’s appointment does not require Senate approval.

The Texas Department of State Health Services did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Shuford’s planned departure from her state position or her transition timeline.

Shuford previously worked as an infectious disease physician in Austin before joining the Texas health department in 2017. She later served as the state’s chief epidemiologist and became commissioner in 2022.

During her tenure, Shuford worked on Texas’ COVID-19 response and later participated in the state response to a measles outbreak in West Texas that reported 762 cases and two child deaths. The outbreak marked the largest U.S. measles outbreak in 30 years, according to state health officials.

Shuford has publicly supported vaccination efforts. During the measles outbreak, she said on Texas Standard that the measles vaccine “is highly effective” and contributed to the elimination of measles in the United States in 2000.

The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials said in a statement that it supports Shuford’s appointment, citing her experience in public health leadership.

Former CDC chief medical officer Dr. Debra Houry left the position in August, along with other officials, citing concerns about changes in the agency’s scientific direction under its current leadership.

Feral hogs have spread across most of Texas, but experts report that El Paso County does not have an established population, based on current observations and research.

Feral hogs have spread across most of Texas, but experts report that El Paso County does not have an established population, based on current observations and research.

Texas has an estimated 3 million to 4 million feral hogs across 253 counties, according to the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute. Researchers state that El Paso County remains the only county without a confirmed population, although isolated sightings may occur.

Marcus Blum, an assistant professor and wildlife specialist with Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, said researchers have not documented an established group of feral hogs in the county. He said occasional animals could appear, but no verified population exists.

Feral hogs cause an estimated $670 million in agricultural damage each year and add about $200 million in control and mitigation costs, according to the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute. The animals damage crops, rangeland and hay fields and can spread disease to livestock and wildlife.

Experts attribute the absence of hogs in El Paso County primarily to environmental conditions. Blum said the area’s arid climate and limited water sources reduce habitat suitability for the species. He said feral hogs depend on water and are not adapted to desert environments.

Blum said West Texas generally has lower feral hog densities than other parts of the state. He said populations appear in areas where water and food are available, particularly near agricultural land.

In contrast, East Texas supports larger populations due to higher rainfall, dense vegetation and abundant forage. Feral hogs reproduce quickly, with females capable of breeding at about six months of age and a gestation period of approximately 115 days.

Feral hogs originated from domestic pigs introduced by Spanish explorers in the 1500s. Escaped animals established wild populations that spread across Texas and other regions.

Blum said a permanent population in El Paso County would require sufficient water, food and habitat, along with connections to existing populations. He said development could create conditions that support hogs, but establishment would depend on multiple factors.

Blum said early signs of a population would include damage in areas with water or agriculture, such as green spaces and riparian corridors.

State and federal agencies and private landowners continue to manage feral hog populations across Texas through coordinated control efforts.

San Antonio Pets Alive! is urging residents to foster neonatal kittens as shelters face a surge of arrivals during peak kitten season, the group said.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Pets Alive! is urging residents to foster neonatal kittens as shelters face a surge of arrivals during peak kitten season, the group said.

The organization reported that San Antonio Animal Care Services is receiving between 20 and 40 newborn kittens daily, exceeding its overnight capacity of eight animals. Officials said kittens without foster placement may face euthanasia due to limited space and resources.

San Antonio Pets Alive! said it provides foster volunteers with supplies, including formula, bottles, food and litter, as well as medical care and support. The group also coordinates adoption placements, including transport to other areas.

The organization said fostering options vary based on availability. Bottle-fed kittens require frequent care and are suited for people who stay at home, while older kittens can be cared for by those with full-time work schedules. Nursing mother cats with litters require less direct care from fosters.

Officials said most fostering commitments last two to four weeks. Volunteers caring for kittens younger than eight weeks may receive up to four hours of volunteer credit per day.

The group said community participation can help reduce euthanasia during the seasonal increase in kitten intake. Interested individuals can apply through the organization’s website or contact its foster program directly.

WASHINGTON — The Walt Disney Company has increased ticket prices for Walt Disney World through October 31, 2027, with peak single-day admission rising by about 10% as part of its dynamic pricing model, according to newly released booking data.

The company sets ticket prices based on demand, holidays, and other factors, resulting in higher rates during peak travel periods.

For 2026, peak single-day tickets reached $209 at Magic Kingdom, $204 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, $199 at EPCOT, and $184 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In 2027, peak pricing increased to at least $219 for Magic Kingdom, $209 for Hollywood Studios, $214 for EPCOT, and $189 for Animal Kingdom.

The booking calendar currently extends through October 2027. Prices for the holiday season, including the period between Christmas and New Year’s, have not yet been released and may increase further based on demand.

Disney first exceeded $200 for single-day tickets during peak periods in 2025.

The price changes come as the company begins redevelopment at Animal Kingdom. In February, DinoLand U.S.A. closed to make way for a new themed area called Tropical Americas, which will include attractions based on “Encanto” and “Indiana Jones.”

Astronauts from Artemis II said Thursday they are evaluating technical issues encountered during their recent trip around the moon, including problems with the spacecraft’s toilet system, during a news conference at NASA Johnson Space Center.

HOUSTON — Astronauts from Artemis II said Thursday they are evaluating technical issues encountered during their recent trip around the moon, including problems with the spacecraft’s toilet system, during a news conference at NASA Johnson Space Center.

Commander Reid Wiseman and crewmate Christina Koch spoke about the 10-day mission, which marked the first crewed lunar flight in more than 50 years, and addressed questions about the performance of the Orion spacecraft’s onboard systems.

NASA officials said the spacecraft used a Universal Waste Management System, a modern toilet designed for microgravity that relies on airflow, a hose-and-funnel system for urine, and a seat for solid waste. The system includes restraints to keep astronauts in place and uses airflow to manage waste and odors.

Officials said the toilet experienced issues early in the mission, including a controller problem shortly after launch and a venting issue later attributed to a possible ice blockage in the wastewater line.

Flight controllers and crew members resolved the initial problem by adding water to prime the system’s pump. Later, when venting problems occurred, astronauts used backup urine collection devices while engineers attempted to clear the blockage by exposing the vent line to sunlight.

NASA flight director Judd Frieling said the system remained functional for solid waste, while liquid waste disposal was partially restored after troubleshooting.

The toilet system drew public attention during the mission, which also produced widely viewed images of Earth and the lunar surface. NASA officials said the issues provided valuable data for future missions.

Officials said they will review the Orion spacecraft and its systems, including the toilet, as part of post-mission analysis. They added that any necessary modifications could be made before future missions, including Artemis III, which aims to return astronauts to the lunar surface.

NASA said longer missions, including future lunar and Mars missions, will require more advanced waste and water recycling systems, building on current technology used aboard the International Space Station.

Iran has again closed the Strait of Hormuz, restricting ship passage as tensions escalate with the United States over a naval blockade and the ongoing conflict in the region, Iranian officials and U.S. authorities said Sunday.

TEHRAN — Iran has again closed the Strait of Hormuz, restricting ship passage as tensions escalate with the United States over a naval blockade and the ongoing conflict in the region, Iranian officials and U.S. authorities said Sunday.

Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammed Bagher Qalibaf said on state television that Iran would not allow other countries to use the waterway while its own exports remain blocked, following U.S. actions targeting Iranian ports.

The U.S. military said it turned back 23 vessels attempting to transit the strait as part of its enforcement operations. The waterway typically carries about 20% of global oil and natural gas shipments.

In a social media post, U.S. President Donald Trump accused Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement by firing in the strait and said the U.S. blockade would continue. He added that U.S. officials would travel to Islamabad for potential negotiations.

Trump said the United States had offered Iran a deal and warned of further military action if no agreement is reached.

Iran’s National Security Council said it would maintain control over traffic in the strait until the conflict ends. The closure follows a brief reopening and comes as a ceasefire deadline approaches.

India’s foreign ministry said it summoned Iran’s ambassador after a reported shooting involving two Indian-flagged vessels during the temporary reopening. The United Kingdom’s maritime agency also reported that Iranian vessels fired on a tanker.

The renewed closure has left thousands of seafarers stranded aboard ships in the Gulf since the conflict began in late February.

Separately, violence continued in southern Lebanon despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah. French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the death of a French peacekeeper, while Israeli authorities reported two soldiers killed in separate incidents.

Diplomatic efforts continued as Pakistan signaled preparations for possible talks between U.S. and Iranian officials in Islamabad, though neither side has confirmed a schedule.
