WASHINGTON — The federal government shutdown has suspended pay for most federal employees, but the Trump administration has approved continued salary payments for FBI agents.

FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the agents will keep receiving pay during the budget impasse that has frozen wages for other federal workers.

The shutdown began after Congress and the President failed to reach an agreement on spending allocations. The stalemate halted many government services and pay for thousands of employees across various agencies.

FBI agents were designated as essential personnel, allowing their compensation to continue. Their duties include counterterrorism, national security, and law enforcement operations.

Director Patel stated that uninterrupted pay will help ensure the bureau maintains critical operations during the funding lapse.
