Falls City, Texas, experienced a 4.5 magnitude earthquake, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

This is one of the largest quakes recorded in Texas this year, ranking as the fifth-largest since the beginning of 2024.

The tremor occurred on Tuesday afternoon, and many residents in the area reported shaking.

USGS seismologists are analyzing the data to determine the origin of the earthquake and if it could be related to human activities or natural geological processes.

Residents shared their experiences on social media, describing the shaking and confusion during the event.

Officials have emphasized the importance of earthquake preparedness, especially in areas where seismic activity is less common.

They have encouraged residents to secure heavy furniture, create emergency kits, and educate themselves on how to protect themselves during earthquakes.

State officials are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to provide additional support if needed.

Governor Greg Abbott’s office has offered assistance to Falls City and surrounding areas. Residents are urged to stay vigilant and follow updates from local authorities.
