McLaren’s Formula One driver Lando Norris provided insights into the team’s 2025 car during pre-season testing at Bahrain’s Sakhir International Circuit.

Despite new developments and engineering efforts over the season break, Norris noted that the car closely resembles last year’s model.

His comments came on the first of three testing days in Bahrain, as teams prepare for the season opener in Australia.

Norris topped the timesheets on the first day of testing, but he emphasized that the main focus was on validating the car’s technical aspects rather than seeking maximum speed.

He explained that the team’s priority during these sessions is to ensure all components function well together, describing it as a process of “ticking boxes.”

While the car’s performance is important, Norris highlighted that reliability and consistency are the team’s primary concerns.

The pre-season tests offer an opportunity to address any potential issues before the competitive season begins.

McLaren’s approach aims to strike a balance between innovative designs and the reliable performance of their previous car.

Norris acknowledged that such challenges are typical during the development phase and are part of pushing the car’s limits.

While Norris’s strong showing in testing suggests the team is on the right track, the challenge remains in translating practice speed into consistent race results.

As McLaren continues to refine their car, the pre-season testing is a critical time for fine-tuning. Norris’s feedback will help shape final adjustments before the cars head to Australia.
