Christian Horner, the long-serving team principal of Red Bull Racing, has been dismissed from his position with immediate effect, the team confirmed on Wednesday.
Horner, aged 51, led the Formula One team for 20 years and oversaw a period of dominance, securing eight drivers’ world championships and six constructors’ titles for Red Bull.
His leadership saw Max Verstappen win the drivers’ championship in the past four consecutive seasons.
The decision comes amid a turbulent time for Red Bull following accusations of inappropriate behavior against Horner, from which he was cleared.
Laurent Mekies has been appointed as Horner’s successor at Red Bull. The change in leadership marks a significant shift for the team as they prepare for upcoming races and the next Formula One season.
