East Texas firefighters successfully rescued five puppies from a fire incident that occurred Monday night in Cass County.

The blaze, initiated by a heat lamp being accidentally knocked over, led to a brush fire, endangering the lives of these young animals.

The fire, reported around 8:00 PM, took place in a rural area of Cass County. Residents nearby noticed smoke and flames and quickly alerted the emergency services.

The fire department responded promptly to the alarm and arrived at the scene within minutes.

Upon their arrival, firefighters assessed the situation and discovered that the fire had originated from a knocked-over heat lamp, commonly used to keep animals warm in cooler conditions.

The lamp had ignited nearby dry vegetation, causing the fire to spread rapidly.

The puppies, five in number, belonged to a local family that used the heat lamp to provide warmth for them during the colder nights.

The family, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed gratitude to the firefighters for their prompt and effective response.

According to officials, the puppies were unharmed and in good health following the incident.

The fire department later confirmed that the puppies were returned to their owners after the situation was fully under control.

Cass County fire officials emphasized the importance of safety precautions when using heating devices, especially in areas with easily flammable materials.

They advised residents to ensure that such devices are securely positioned and away from combustible items to prevent similar occurrences.

Fire Chief James Miller stated that this incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers of using heat lamps, particularly in rural and wooded areas.

As the investigation into the fire continues, authorities are taking steps to educate the public on fire safety and prevention measures.

The Cass County Fire Department plans to hold community workshops and distribute informational materials to raise awareness about the risks associated with heating devices and open flames.
