MANILA, Philippines– The Department of Justice (DOJ) denied reports claiming that former House Speaker Martin Romualdez sought to become a state witness in the ongoing investigation into flood control projects.
In an official statement, the DOJ clarified that Romualdez is not under consideration for any witness role related to the probe. The agency confirmed that it has not received any application or request from Romualdez to serve as a state witness.
Speculation over Romualdez’s alleged involvement surfaced earlier this week, prompting the DOJ to issue a clarification to prevent misinformation.
The flood control investigation continues to examine alleged irregularities in the implementation of public works projects. The DOJ reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a fair and impartial inquiry, emphasizing accountability and transparency.
