WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Department of Justice employee, Sean Charles Dunn, was terminated and now faces a felony assault charge after allegedly throwing a sandwich at a Customs and Border Protection officer during a confrontation in Washington, D.C.

According to officials, Dunn, 37, approached a group of federal agents on 14th Street NW, made a verbal statement, and threw a wrapped sandwich at an officer’s chest. Dunn later reportedly admitted to the act while being processed by police.

The Department of Justice confirmed Dunn’s termination, stating that actions perceived as disrespect toward law enforcement would not be tolerated. The department emphasized that any assault on a federal officer would result in legal consequences.

Dunn has been charged with one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding a federal officer. The charge carries a potential prison term of up to one year. He has made an initial court appearance and was released on his own recognizance.
