MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Department of Justice (DOJ) on May 13, dismissed complaints filed by former President Rodrigo Duterte against top officials involved in a police operation to arrest Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

Duterte had accused Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Rommel Marbil, former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, and others of malicious mischief and violation of domicile, alleging the operation was excessive and unjustified.

The DOJ rejected the complaints, stating in its resolution that there was no sufficient evidence to support Duterte’s allegations.

The complaint stemmed from Duterte’s role as administrator of properties owned by the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KJC), the religious group founded by Quiboloy.

The DOJ’s findings concluded that law enforcement officials acted within legal bounds during the operation.
