MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced on Saturday that 82 Filipino tourists stranded in Jordan due to escalating tensions in the Middle East are now en route back to the Philippines.
According to the DFA, the 82 passengers were among 113 Filipinos initially stuck in Amman and had departed safely from Queen Alia International Airport as of Saturday. They traveled via several transit hubs, including Cairo, Dubai, Mumbai, and Riyadh, where they were expected to board connecting flights to Manila.
The Philippine Embassy in Amman continues to assist the remaining 31 Filipinos still in the country.
The DFA noted that more than 41,000 Filipinos reside in Jordan and assured that the embassy “remains committed to providing necessary assistance to ensure the safe return to the Philippines of Filipino nationals currently in Jordan.”
