MANILA. Philippines– The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) conducted an inspection Tuesday of Monterrazas de Cebu following flooding caused from Typhoon “Tino” in Cebu City.

The inspection focused on the development project owned of actor and civil engineer Slater Young, located in Barangay Guadalupe, a mountainside area of the city.

A joint DENR team assessed the project to determine compliance with environmental regulations. Representatives from the DENR and other environmental agencies evaluated construction practices, drainage systems, soil stability, and environmental safeguards.

The inspection is part of a broader investigation into potential factors contributing to recent flooding. Officials are reviewing whether the Monterrazas de Cebu project may have influenced local flooding or erosion.

Slater Young, as the project owner, is expected to provide information to the investigating team. DENR actions respond to public concerns following the typhoon’s impact and aim to prevent future environmental hazards.

The findings of the inspection will guide future regulatory measures, reinforcing DENR’s commitment to ensuring development projects follow environmental laws and protect local communities.
