A court in Timor-Leste has denied the Philippine government’s request to extradite Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., a former member of the House of Representatives.
Teves is accused of masterminding the assassination of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
Janice Degamo, widow of the late governor and Mayor of Pamplona, Negros Oriental, expressed her disapproval on social media, voicing the family’s frustration with the court’s ruling.
Teves, who has been a controversial figure in Philippine politics, denies involvement in the assassination.
His legal team maintains that the charges are politically motivated. Despite this, the Philippine Department of Justice continues to pursue charges against Teves, seeking accountability for the crime.
The Degamo family remains committed to seeking justice.
