MANILA, Philippines– Rep. Leila de Lima of the Mamamayang Liberal Party-list issued an apology to the Supreme Court of the Philippines on Saturday following her earlier remarks regarding the court’s decision on the impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In a public statement, de Lima expressed regret for describing the ruling as “ex-parte” or “one-sided,” acknowledging the characterization as “grossly ill-advised.”

Her previous comments suggested that the House of Representatives was not given an opportunity to respond to the impeachment petitions.

The apology was released through an official statement, in which de Lima conveyed her intention to clarify and retract her earlier remarks directed at the judiciary.

The Supreme Court has not issued a response to the apology as of this writing.
