MANILA, Philippines — Former NBA champion Danny Green expressed his opposition to the four-point shot currently used in the Philippine Basketball Association, saying the rule may hurt the quality of the game.

Green, known for his long-range shooting during his NBA career, shared his thoughts while visiting the Philippines as part of an NBA event.

“If there was a four-point line, I don’t think it would be a great product,” Green told reporters on Friday. “I think there’d be more complaints of what they’re watching if there was a four-point line.”

The PBA introduced the four-point line two years ago in an effort to add excitement to the league, placing the shot at around 27 feet from the basket. The change quickly sparked debate among basketball fans and players worldwide.

Not everyone shares Green’s view. During a recent visit to the Philippines, Sabrina Ionescu said she liked the longer-distance scoring opportunity.

Despite the mixed reactions, the PBA has continued to use the rule, with the four-point shot still in effect in the ongoing Commissioner’s Cup.
