The Dallas Stars have indefinitely banned a fan after an investigation into a gesture made during their December 21 game against the Toronto Maple Leafs that appeared to resemble a Nazi salute.
Video footage circulated online showing multiple fans repeatedly raising and extending their right arms, prompting the American Airlines Center to review the incident.
The Stars identified and spoke with the individual who purchased the tickets before issuing the ban. In response, the team announced plans to enhance in-arena messaging about their fan code of conduct and to provide additional staff training to better recognize and respond to discriminatory behavior. A spokesperson emphasized that hateful behavior will not be tolerated and affirmed the team’s commitment to creating an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment.
The NHL’s fan code of conduct, which teams highlight during pregame segments, prohibits gestures or actions that demean individuals or groups based on identity, promoting respect, inclusion, and safety. It remains unclear whether other individuals seen in the video will face disciplinary action.
