TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — The parents of 8-year-old Eloise “Lulu” Peck filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Camp Mystic on November 10, following a flash flood on July 4 that killed 27 campers and counselors.
The lawsuit alleges the camp acted negligently and failed to follow safety protocols, including ignoring National Weather Service flood warnings and not evacuating in time. It also claims cabins were built in unsafe locations.
Timothy and Melissa Peck are seeking more than $1 million in damages for wrongful death, mental anguish, and pain and suffering. The case marks the second lawsuit filed against the camp since the deadly flood, with other families pursuing similar legal action.
Camp Mystic has not publicly responded to the allegations. The Pecks are requesting a jury trial, and the outcome may influence safety regulations for summer camps in areas prone to natural disasters.
