TEAGUE, Texas — Two dogs that drew widespread attention through a viral social media post have been voluntarily surrendered to Teague Animal Control, officials confirmed this week.

The animals are being transferred to an out-of-state adoption organization to ensure their long-term care and rehoming.

The situation began in Dallas, where a video showing the dogs in unfavorable conditions circulated widely on social media.

The footage prompted concern among citizens and triggered involvement from Dallas Animal Services, which initiated the response and temporarily handled the animals.

Authorities later transferred the dogs to Teague to facilitate improved care and oversight. Officials said the move was intended to better address the dogs’ needs and prepare them for adoption through a specialized organization known for successfully rehoming animals nationwide.

The dogs are currently in temporary foster care during a 48-hour holding period. Teague Animal Control, working with veterinarians and animal welfare professionals, is assessing the animals’ health and behavior before their relocation.

Teague officials credited the public’s response for prompting swift action. “Community awareness played a crucial role in bringing this situation to light,” the department stated, noting its commitment to ensuring the dogs’ welfare until their transition is complete.
