Cynthia Erivo served as the host for the Tony Awards on Sunday at Radio City Music Hall in New York, where she began the show from her dressing room.

The stage manager prompted her to get to the stage, asking if she had an opening number prepared. Erivo responded that she had not decided on one yet.

During her journey through the backstage area, Erivo encountered several individuals offering advice. Among them was Oprah Winfrey, who told her, “The only thing you need to do is just be yourself.”

Erivo then made her entrance onto the Radio City stage wearing a red, spangly gown with white accents.
