MANILA, Philippines- Congress ratified the proposed P6.793-trillion national budget for 2026 on Monday during a bicameral session in Manila.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives approved the budget after reconciling their differing provisions.

Lawmakers completed the bicameral conference committee report so President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. can sign the spending measure into law.

The Senate adopted the bicameral report after its panel finished negotiations with House representatives.

The House of Representatives also ratified the same report after both chambers agreed on the final text of the budget.

Members of the bicameral conference committee met to resolve amendments and realignments in the 2026 General Appropriations Bill.

They submitted a harmonized version of the bill to both chambers for approval.

After ratification, Congress transmitted the enrolled P6.793-trillion budget to Malacañang.

The national budget will take effect once President Marcos signs it into law, following his line-item review and possible vetoes under the Constitution.

Senators and House members reviewed funding levels for key government programs during the bicameral talks.

They agreed on final allocations for departments and agencies in the 2026 budget.

Legislative staff and budget experts finalized technical details and prepared the enrolled bill after plenary approval.

The Department of Budget and Management coordinated with Congress during deliberations and prepared for budget implementation once the law takes effect.

The ratification followed the constitutional schedule for passing the annual General Appropriations Act.

The Office of the President will review the budget to ensure it aligns with administration priorities and existing laws.
